Oilers GM Chiarelli scorched by analyst after details of this summers trade leak.

Earlier today Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman revealed some of the key details surrounding both the trade of P.K. Subban and Shea Weber as well as that of Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson, and as a result some believe Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli has come out looking very poorly.

No critic was harsher on Chiarelli today than Yahoo Sports' Greg Wyshynski, who broke down multiple aspects of the deal that he felt simply didn't make much sense from the Oilers perspective. Wyshynski summarized how Chiarelli will be viewed after this in rather uncharitable fashion:

If you’re someone that believes Chiarelli is the right surgeon to mend the Oilers, it’ll give you pause; if you’re someone that believes Chiarelli is an overhyped empty suit, Merry Christmas.

However when it came to the speculation that Taylor Hall may have been traded at least in part due to locker room issues, or how some among the Oilers felt his presence limited the development of McDavid, Wyshynski really teed off. While describing all this talk as code for "Taylor Hall was a locker room cancer," the Yahoo writer really let his feelings on the trade show.

Trading a top-flight player because you don’t like his personality … what idiot does that?

There have already been a great deal of mixed reactions to Wyshynski's comments about Chiarelli, and something the tells us the Oilers GM wasn't a huge fan either, but it's a take that has been shared by more than a few which is not a good look for Chiarelli who was at the helm of another infamous trade involving Tyler Seguin.
