Edmonton Oilers general manager Ken Holland remains busy despite the start of the preseason, adding another player to his roster early on Wednesday morning.

According to KHL insider Igor Erenko, forward Anton Burdasov of the Kontinental Hockey League has agreed to a professional tryout agreement with the Oilers.

Back in late August, it was reported that three NHL teams, including the Oilers, were interested in landing the winger for a PTO. Holland got the edge over them this morning.

It is expected that Burdasov would be looking for an opportunity in which he could play top-six minutes and Edmonton might be the perfect opportunity, seeing the the lack of quality depth the Oilers have on the wings.

The 28-year-old forward, who went undrafted in the NHL and has spent his entire career in Russia, has bounced around the KHL over the course of his professional career, sporting the colours of SKA St. Petersburg, Avangard Omsk, CSKA Moscow, and, most recently, with Salavat Yulaev Ufa. Last season with Salavat, Burdasov put up a team-leading 19 goals in 50 games.

GM Holland knew he needed a boost on the wing and this move might be was is needed in Edmonton to kick off the 2019-20 season on the right foot.
