You're not going to believe what he said.

The reaction from fans in Edmonton has been less than positive, and with #fleeced being one of the top trends on social media in Edmonton at the moment, it's clear how they feel about the trade made by general manager Peter Chiarelli today.

So of course as you would expect from Chiarelli, he attempted to play damage control after trading the #1 overall pick in 2010, but when you consider he's notorious for trading the #2 pick in that draft, Tyler Seguin, it was a little hard to take him seriously.

The situation was made even worse when according to Pro Hockey Talks Mike Harrington he dropped this hilariously failed attempt at smoothing the situation over.

"There's a pedigree and label attached to certain players, and they're earned, and Taylor has that," said Chiarelli before adding, "the player we acquired doesn't."

And it gets even worse, according to a report from Greyson Knutson Chiarelli once again flubbed when trying to justify the trade to him.

From Knutson:

Chiarelli says he understands frustrations of fans, because of Hall and Larsson's numbers - says Larsson is "not a sexy defenseman"

Ouch.
