There have been a ton of trade rumors floating around the Edmonton Oilers as of late but this one sounds like much more than just a rumor.

Sportsnet insider Chris Johnston has just shared a report that leaves little doubt that veteran forward Jussi Jokinen is now officially on the trading block, the latest Oilers player to earn that honor.

According to Johnston he has been informed by a source that Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli has sent out a note to National Hockey League teams regarding Jokinen's availability in order to gauge interest in the 34-year-old winger.

Jokinen was coming off a strong offensive season with the Florida Panthers when he signed a one-year deal with the Oilers this summer, however he has accounted for just one point in 9 games with the Oilers thus far this season.

While Jokinen carries a relatively team-friendly deal at just $1.1 million against the salary cap, he does have a modified no trade clause that allows him to exclude 3 teams from trading for him. It's rather unusual to see a no-trade clause attached to a short-term deal for an NHL veteran and it could now potentially limit Chiarelli's options for a trade.
