Oilers insider reveals new ridiculous asking price for Puljujarvi!

Ken Holland wants more and there’s no way he’s going to get it, right?

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Edmonton Oilers forward Jesse Puljujarvi signed a one-year deal with Oulun Kärpät in Finland’s Liiga, but the contract includes a clause that would allow him to return to the NHL before Dec. 1.

Therefore, we could see him back in the NHL this year.

However, the kid has made it clear he wants to be traded from Edmonton and Oilers insider Ryan Rishaug of TSN revealed on Tuesday night what GM Ken Holland is seeking as a return in this potential deal.

And it seems too much, to say the least…

According to Rishaug, the Oilers “are looking for a prospect that has the potential to be a top 9 player in the NHL and a 1st RD pick for Jesse Puljujarvi, if it is a 1-for-1 deal, Oilers would like a player that can step in and help now with some term left on his deal.”

It sure feels like this is never going to take place…

Holland reacted later on Tuesday to the signing of his young player in Finland and did not seem to feel the pressure of pulling the trigger on any trade despite Puljujarvi’s standing off to the side.

“I don’t know that him signing in Finland has a huge effect on the situation,” Holland said on Tuesday morning to Sportsnet’s Mark Spector. “I’ve had conversations with numerous clubs that have had interest, some interest, in acquiring Jesse. And I have had, probably in the last 10 days, two or three new teams reach out to me. Teams whose positions have changed, and are checking into the Puljujarvi situation.
“I’ll do a deal if I feel good that I’m making a deal in the best interests of the Edmonton Oilers.”

Of course what Holland is asking for is in the best interest of his team, but we can’t think of any club across the NHL willing to make such a risky move with Puljujarvi…

Fans are still waiting for Puljujarvi to breakout offensively, especially in the NHL. Despite being being the fourth-overall pick in 2016, he has 17 goals and 37 points in 139 games over three seasons.

No one is going to pay that much for a player who has yet to prove himself…
