This just in, the Edmonton Oilers have recalled rookie defenseman Evan Bouchard from the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors. The team has assigned defenseman Ethan Bear to the Condors in a corresponding move. Additionally, the team has placed defenseman Adam Larsson on long-term injury reserve.

No word yet on what exactly is wrong with Larsson, but suffice it to say this is concerning news for Oilers fans. The 26 year old blue liner played in the team’s season opener last night against the Vancouver Canucks, but did have some back issues that hampered him down the stretch last season and, ultimately, into his offseason.

As for Bouchard, the Oilers’ first round selection (10th overall) from the 2018 NHL Entry Draft will be expected to make his NHL debut Saturday night against the visiting Los Angeles Kings.
