Oilers need to be careful with their next GM interview…

The Vegas Golden Knights were eliminated in one of the most exciting Game 7 of the last decade last night at the hands of the San Jose Sharks and the loss is still very hard and too soon to swallow.

The Golden Knights are very upset about the penalty and game misconduct handed to forward Cody Eakin that prompt they Sharks to make an epic comeback and finally win the game in overtime. Their captain Joe Pavelski was injured on the play, and clearly the situation motivated the team.

The Edmonton Oilers were keeping an eye on the series, not because they enjoy rubbing salt in their wounds, but because they are looking for they new GM and have been wanting to talk to Vegas assistant general manager Kelly McCrimmon for quite some time now.

Now that the Golden Knights’ season is officially over, the Oilers will look to get in touch with him, however, NHL insider Darren Dreger reminds everyone they need to be careful and wait the appropriate time to discuss his potential future in Edmonton.

The Oilers need to get permission from Vegas to speak with McCrimmon, and they need to find the right moment to do so. Everyone in Vegas is still very upset about Tuesday’s elimination. Head coach Gerard Gallant revealed that this loss is tougher than the one suffered at the hands of the Washington Capitals in the Stanley Cup final last spring…

That says a lot...

Some fans don’t want the Oilers to wait seeing that they have waited long enough for the perfect replacement in the front office. While we are sure captain Connor McDavid is too impatient to see some changes in Edmonton, the Oilers could shoot themselves in the foot if they don’t wait a bit with this very promising candidate.
