Oilers pick Broberg, who's proven everyone wrong!

Holland couldn't pass him up!

The Edmonton Oilers showed up with their new general manager Ken Holland on the podium of the NHL Draft in Vancouver and he made quite the statement, picking defenseman Philip Broberg with the eighth overall pick. 


The Swede was considered a top-three defenseman in the draft because of his impressive size and impressive skating abilities. Despite the roller-coaster year, he managed to convince Holland to pick him and make him an Oiler. He played 41 games at the pro level in his home country of Sweden, scoring nine points.
