The Edmonton Oilers have provided an official update on the status of their injured captain, superstar forward Connor McDavid, and we're happy to say that the Oilers are bringing good news to their fan base today.

According to an announcement from the Oilers organization, Oilers head coach David Tippett confirmed on Sunday that his star forward would be back in the lineup and joining his teammates in Los Angeles this evening when they will face off against the Los Angeles Kings. This will mark the first time McDavid will be back in action since he suffered a quad injury earlier this month, an injury that was expected to keep him out of the lineup for anywhere from 3 to 4 weeks.

It seems based on the timeframe of his recovery that McDavid is actually slightly ahead of schedule here, but I suspect that the Oilers were likely very careful with his recovery and would not be letting him back into the lineup were he not fully ready to go. The addition of McDavid is obviously huge considering he has once again proven himself to be one of the most dominant players in the National Hockey League this season, producing at a ridiculous pace prior to going down with this injury. In his 55 games played during the 2019 - 2020 NHL regular season thus far McDavid has recorded 30 goals and a whopping 51 assists for a combined total of 86 points.
