Oilers re-sign former second round pick to minor deal.

The Edmonton Oilers are closing out the work week with a minor signing but one worth noting.

The team officially announced the signing of 23 year old defenseman David Musil on Friday, it's a one year deal and while the Oilers did not intially disclose the financial terms of the deal, according to a report from Bob Stauffer of CHED 630, it's a two-way deal worth $600,000 at the National Hockey League level.

Musil only appeared in four games for Edmonton last season, spending the majority of his time in the American Hockey League with Barkersfield, while he likely will be spending the majority of this season at the AHL level once again, there is some belief that he will get another opportunity to showcase his skills in the NHL this season.

Clearly the Oilers saw something in him when they drafted him at the top of the 2nd round in 2011, and they are still hoping that he can develop into more than he has shown thus far.
