This just in from NHL insider Chris Johnston of Sportsnet, the Edmonton Oilers have placed forward Devin Shore on waivers.
It's unclear if this move is being made with the intent of shipping Shore to the Oilers' AHL Bakersfield Condors or if the Oilers hope to give the 26 year old a new home in the NHL. He was on the Oilers' taxi squad, which does not require waivers, prior to his most recent call up. Whatever the case now, Shore is not headed to the Oilers' taxi squad and may in fact generate some interest around the NHL. He's a versatile bottom-six player who has put up 30+ points twice in his NHL career. He has struggled to stay healthy the past few seasons though and it was thought that a fresh start with a new team in Edmonton might jump start his once promising career.
Don't be surprised if Shore gets claimed by another team looking to take him on as a reclamation project.
