There was plenty of movement in the National Hockey League over the course of the offseason and with the preseason now truly set to get into the full swing of things, there was just a single preseason game on the first night of the preseason this past Sunday, fans are excited to see how their favorite team's roster is going to shape out this coming season.

Now considering that it is the preseason we do not often see teams out on the ice at full strength during the games. Instead the exhibition games are more often used as an evaluation tool for both NHL general managers as well as their coaching staffs. Although coaches usually have a pretty good idea of who will make the team, and by extension who will be cut, prior to the start of the preseason, preseason games do provide a great way for them to round out their rosters. The games allow coaches to trial several players who are on the fridge of cracking the main roster, and from there choose whomever they feel would be best for the job.

One such team set to begin their evaluations this evening is none other than the Edmonton Oilers organization. Perhaps one of the teams most excited to hit the ice will be the one with a brand new general manager and a brand new head coach to go right along with him. Oilers general manager Ken Holland and Oilers head coach  Dave Tippett will get the chance to see their players in a live game scenario for the first time since taking on their new jobs, and here is how it looks like Tippett will use his lines tonight.

From the Oilers official account:

Forwards

Neal-RNH-Gagner

Khaira-Sheahan-Archibald

Nygard-Haas-Chiasson

Benson-Cave-Russell

Defensemen

Klefbom-Persson

Jones-Benning

Lagesson-Bouchard

Goalies

Skinner & Wells (starter TBD)

Update: Although initially it seemed unclear who would be starting in goal for the Oilers on the evening, the team has provided an update that does shed some additional light on the situation. According to the Oilers it sounds like it's going to be a bit of a log jam in goal tonight, with several netminders set to get a chance to play.

"Split duties in net tonight between Skinner & Wells with local boy Stuart making the start," wrote on the Oilers.

Things could still change before game time, but it does appear that this is what the Oilers are going with tonight.
