August 6th, 2010: After 20 seasons with the Dallas Stars and Minnesota North Stars, forward Mike Modano is introduced as the newest member of the Detroit Red Wings.

The Livonia, Michigan native returned to his home state for the final lap of his career in what he hoped would deliver one last chance at a championship. In the end, Modano was limited to just 40 games and 15 points in his final NHL season as the Wings bowed out to the San Jose Sharks in the Western Conference Semi-Finals.

It wasn’t quite the fairytale ending that Modano had hoped for in his career, but nonetheless he’ll be remembered as one of the NHL’s all-time greats. The Hockey Hall of Famer scored an incredible 561 goals and 1374 points in 1499 games and is the NHL’s all-time leading score amongst US born players.
