This might be preventing a trade.

One hopeful team may be flat out of luck when it comes to acquiring Jonathan Drouin.

It's honestly a little surprising to see Jonathan Drouin still a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning this late in the season, especially since by all accounts the relationship between team and player has been irrevocably damaged.

However one insider may have dropped a hint as to why the deal has yet to materialize, and it may be a result of general manager Steve Yzerman's unwillingness to deal Drouin within his own conference. This morning during a radio interview TSN insider Darren Dreger revealed that at least one team appears to be out of the running, the team many believe want Drouin the most, the Montreal Canadiens.

"I don't believe Yzerman has any interest in trading Jonathan Drouin to Montreal."

The trade deadline is now more than a month away, and Drouin is refusing to report to his team, and it would seem like a deal has to get done, especially with other major decisions such as the future of Steven Stamkos to deal with, but the deal may only come if the right Western Conference offer presents itself.
