It's not a done deal, but it sounds like there's a very real chance one of the National Hockey League's most well-respected coaches may soon be moving on from his current position.

Kings general manager Dean Lombardi told the media late last week that he had made what he considers to be a fair offer to his head coach, Darryl Sutter, but admitted that Sutter's future with the Kings wasn't about the money.

"Darryl has an offer on the table," Lombardi told reporters on Friday. "I think there's an offer that's certainly respectable. I don't think this is about money. It's (more about) are we ready to do this? That issue of where we're going, and where we are, is always out there. It's a different challenge."

For his part Sutter says that his primary concern is the team's ability to compete, and it sounds like at this stage of his career, Sutter's primary concern is winning another Stanley Cup Championship.

“Still looking at what our team will potentially look like next season with (free agents), salary cap and kids still playing with (AHL) club in Ontario," Sutter said as per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. Coached long time and a lot of playoff games, so number one for me is to continue to do that,”

One thing is certain if Sutter does indeed choose to leave the Kings there will be a great deal of demand for his services.
