One of the top pick's in the draft is predicting himself to win the Calder!

A very bold prediction from a confident young man.

One of the top pick's in this year's draft is feeling extremely confident about his first season in the National Hockey League.

Despite the fact that he was only picked third after jumping way up the draft board, in a recent interview with the National Hockey League's official website #3 overall pick Pierre-Luc-Dubois revealed that he would not be surprised if he were to win the Calder Trophy this season as the NHL's rookie of the year.

"We'll see, but, I mean, if I'm in Columbus I might have a shot for that," said Dubois. "It's a different level, but if I am in there I think I have a good shot at it. When you are in [the NHL], you don't really think about it. You just want to play and help your team win. If you win an award like that, it is an honor."

It's an incredibly bold statement from such a young player, but if you're a Blue Jackets fan that's exactly the level of confidence you want to see coming from such a high draft pick.

Dubois will have some stiff competition however, you can bet that the two men drafted ahead of himthe Leafs Auston Matthews and the Jets Patrik Laine, will have something to say about this.
