Was this a dirty hit?

No one wants to see any player get injured as a result of an illegal hit, but equally no one should want to see a player punished unjustly for an act he did not commit.

This is one of those touchy scenarios, where you can probably make a solid case for either side, but either way the end result of the play was an injured Tyler Toffoli and an ejected Roman Polak.

There's no question that Polak hit Toffoli from behind, and that is what caused the injury to the young forward, but where you can raise a question is whether or not Polak was at fault on the play. Toffoli executed a sharp manoeuvre that completely changed the angle of his body a split second before Polak made contact, leaving some doubt as to whether or not the big Leaf had a chance to stop his momentum before making contact.

You can look at the replay and judge for yourselves.
