If you missed tonight’s Game 6 action between the Washington Capitals and the Carolina Hurricanes, you missed a barn burner of a game.

The Hurricanes have managed to gain a lead in the third period, the series’ FIRST lead change if you can believe it, but it didn’t last long…

Or did it?

Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin appeared to tie the game with 9:26 left, but the goal was waived off by the on-ice officials… after some delay.

After another confusing delay, the NHL’s war room in Toronto also confirmed that there was no goal on the play. Neither the league, nor the officials have explained why.

Here’s the play in question:

To add insult to injury, Hurricanes captain Justin Williams would seal the game just 1:25 later to make the score 4-2. Dougie Hamilton added an empty netter to add to the 'Canes' lead. In the final moments of the game though it was Ovechkin who lost his cool viciously slashing Saku Maenalanen and then getting a game ejection for mocking the on-ice officials.

On thing's for sure, Game 7 on Wednesday night is going to be a BEAUTY of a game!
