Pure filth from Ovi last night.
It's hard to believe but last night Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid played in his 500th career regular season NHL game. Crazy. It seems like just a few years ago he was a fresh faced rookie, now he's 500 games into a stellar NHL career highlighted by multiple Hart Trophies. He doesn't yet have the Stanley Cup that he's been seeking, but it's not for a lack of effort or production on his end. McDavid has been everything he was advertised and then some.
Still, after 500 games just when you think you've seen it all from McDavid, he can pull another highlight reel goal seemingly out of nowhere.
Check out this ridiculous powerplay goal from McDavid yesterday evening in which he dances through the entire Capitals' PK unit down the middle of the ice.
Are you kidding me!?
He makes it look easy!
This is the kind of stuff I'd pull off when playing against my kids when they were in Novice and McDavid is out here doing it against the best players in the world. Just insane talent. Here's hoping we get plenty more of these in the next 500 games.
But here's the thing... McDavid wasn't the only superstar future Hall of Famer on the ice last night as Alex Ovechkin managed to lead his Washington Capitals to victory over McDavid and the Oilers. And you think Ovi is just gonna sit and watch from the bench while McDavid makes all the highlight reels? Not a chance, Ovi has shown over the years that he has his own bag of tricks.
Just just out this nasty dish from Ovechkin to Evgeny Kuznetsov to seal the deal last night:
Pure filth. Just an absolutely nasty goal from Ovi and Kuznetsov.
Ovechkin really just watched McDavid put up one of the goals of the season and then said, "anything you can do, I can do better." You love to see it.
In all seriousness we have been fortunate as hockey fans to watch both of these superstars over the course of their careers.
