NPR Moscow correspondent Lucian Kim reported earlier today on some surprising comments from Russian superstar Artemi Panarin of the New York Rangers. According to a translated report from Russian publisher Sport 24, Panarin did not hold back in his criticism for his nation’s president.

Check out some of these quotes:

“I think he no longer understands where it’s good, where it’s bad. It seems to me that it is already psychologically difficult for him to soberly assess the situation, because there are many people who lead him to decisions.I f everyone will tell you 20 years old, what a fine fellow you are and do everything right, do you think you will see your mistakes? ”
“Our mistake is that we treat him like a superman. But he is the same as we, and in theory serves us. I have no relation to him that he is a superman.”

Wow… pretty safe to say that the Breadman won’t be seeing much time with the Russian national team anytime soon. Putin is fiercely patriotic and does not take kindly to criticism of his regime.
