Zach Parise picked up two more goals against Colorado. That gives him 6 goals and 3 assists in 5 games against the Avalanche this season. It also gave him 5 goals and 2 assists in his last 3 games.
Parise has definitely picked up his game at the right time. Yesterday's win over Colorado was huge in terms of getting a bit of a cushion for that final wild card spot. The Wild are now 5 points up on Colorado with 85 points. The extra game in hand that the Avs have now is somewhat of a non factor being that even if they do win that game, they would still be behind the Wild in the standings.
It was a true statement game for Minnesota. They are getting hot at the right time. Last night's win was their 5th in a row. Parise scored the opening goal on a beauty give and go play with Mikael Granlund. Parise picked up the puck off a Colorado turnover then passed it over to the right to Granlund. Grandlund faked a slap shot and slap passed it back to Parise who was alone to the left of the Avalanche net and tapped it in to make it 1-0. It was one of those plays that showed how things were going to go for the Wild.
