Pastrnak exposes details of his fall that some fans believe happened when he was drunk!

Last month, the Boston Bruins announced that they will be without David Pastrnak for several weeks after the star winger underwent surgery to repair a thumb injury. The injury took place late at night in February as Pastrnak fell while leaving a sponsorship dinner with teammates.

It did not take long for many fans and pundits to point out that the star player might have been drunk when the injury occur, especially after the Bruins published a weird press statement to explain the injury. TSN's OverDrive hosts Bryan Hayes, Jeff O’Neill and Darren Dutchyshen came out swinging shortly after the announcement, suspicious about what actually happened.

Hayes studied the whole tweet and questioned the use of several words including the fact that no teammates were named though the Bruins made sure to say that witnesses were present and that it was a team function. Then, criticizing their use of vocabulary from a "Dickens novel", Hayes wondered why they said "while walking to his transportation" and why even pointing this detail out.

"This is the strangest tweet of all time," commented Hayes.

According to Hayes and O'Neil, the Bruins might be protecting their player and hiding a drunken incident. The tweet sounds like Boston is trying so hard to make it seems like they're telling you the truth for it to be truthful. While O’Neill brought up a personal experience that he had when he was on the road that had a similar outcome, Hayes said what a lot of people are probably thinking.

"People are going to assume what I'm assuming right now... [...] that it was 3am and that you were out partying."

On Monday, Pastrnak spoke to the media for the first time since he suffered the injury and underwent surgery. He even gave some additional details on how the injury took place, which might get fans wondering again about his state of mind when it happened.

During his first meeting with NHL.com since the injury, Pastrnak recalled the events that led to his fall, confirming that he slipped coming out of a team sponsorship event.

"Obviously, it's not an injury that happened on the ice, so I took full responsibility for it, and that's what hurt me most. Could I avoid it? You know, obviously, I wish, but things happen…the first couple of weeks were tough."
"I'm leftie, so I usually always put my left hand first, and I kind of put all my weight on it," said Pastrnak, adding that he tried to catch himself using the hand, which caused all of his weight to come down upon it. "Maybe if that happened when I was 18 with 160 pounds that wouldn't hurt, but now I'm 190, so [it] kind of hurt."
"I obviously had a feeling that it didn't feel right as soon as I got up. It kind of felt irregular," said Pastrnak. "There were a couple guys [there], obviously. They saw it. It didn't look bad, so we all thought I was going to be all right, but obviously I felt it after."

Don't we all after the booze is gone?

All jokes aside, it is great news for the Bruins to get one of their best players back, especially in the final stretch. Pastrnak has enjoyed another dominant season in Boston, tallying 31 goals and 66 points this year with the Bruins. Last season, the Czech forward posted a career-high 35 goals and 80 points, and 34 and 70 one year prior.

He was a full participant in practice on Monday and could be back in the lineup as early as Tuesday night when the Bruins visit the New York Islanders.
