The Toronto Maple Leafs are getting ready to face the Carolina Hurricanes at home and even the Montreal Canadiens are cheering them on. That's because the Habs are hoping to beat the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight and see their rivals Leafs and Boston Bruins beat up the Canes and Columbus Blue Jackets respectively to help Montreal take part into the postseason.

One thing is sure: every one keeps cheering for Maple Leafs veteran Patrick Marleau. The 39-year-old remains a beast and has collected 16 goals and 37 points in 79 games this season and he refuses to stop.

According to TSN's James Duthie, ahead of tonight's game against the Hurricanes, Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock revealed that he approached his veterans, including Marleau, about resting and sitting out for the last three contests of the final stretch, however, the conservation didn't go as planned for the bench boss.

Marleau refuses to put an end to his ironman streak and is in uniform tonight, and will be for the rest of the regular season calendar.

Last Wednesday night against the Philadelphia Flyers, Marleau played in his 1,652nd career game, passing Chris Chelios and tying Mark Recchi for the 5th-most games played in NHL history.

Marleau stands right before the league's ironman Keith Yandle of the Florida Panthers. The defenseman has been active for 795 games as Marleau sits second with 785 - just 10 behind.

Go for Marleau to want to keep going. Rest is overrated anyway, right?
