Patriots head coach Bill Belichick hits the ice ahead of Winter Classic.

The Boston Bruins welcomed a special guest ahead of the 2016 Winter Classic, legendary National Football League head coach Bill Belichick.

While the Bruins were welcoming Belichick to their event, it was Belichick who welcomed them to Gilette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots.

“Welcome to our house” said Belichick as per The Globe and Mail: “I love Claude. He’s a great guy. I think we probably have a lot in common just in the way we coach and look at the game and look at the team and things like that.”

Belichick expressed his appreciation for the game of hockey, but after skating awkwardly with Julien he admitted that he didn't get a lot of practice in his youth.

“We didn’t have a lot of ice in Maryland, but skated at Andover [in prep school], skated Wesleyan,” Belichick said. “I played in the old huff-and-puff league when I was in New Jersey with the Giants.”
