The Pittsburgh Penguins have limited flexibility when it comes to their offseason, and with the team seemingly content to keep both Marc-Andre-Fleury and Matt Murray their cap budget is even more restricted.

With that in mind the Penguins must look for discount options around the league, and on Thursday the team announced the signing of journeyman forward Garrett Wilson. From the Penguins official announcement:

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Garrett Wilson to a one-year contract, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.

The deal is a two-way contract that contains an average annual value of $575,000 at the NHL level.

The 25 year old has spent most of his career in the American Hockey League, but managed to crack the Florida Panther's roster late in the season, appearing in multiple playoffs games for them. It's unclear if he will factor in to the Penguins bottom six, but he remains an interesting depth option at a minimum, and one that comes at a very affordable cost.
