This news will come as little surprise to those who have already seen the hit.

Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan has confirmed that defenseman Olli Maatta will not play in Game 3 of their second round series against the Washington Capitals, as a result of the hit he took the head on Saturday night.

Sullivan's tone wasn't a pleasant one when discussing the injury, and considering that Washington Capital Brooks Orpik appeared to deliberately elbow Maatta in the head, it's rather understandable that he's upset.

"He's obviously out. We'll have more details probably tomorrow on his status," Sullivan told reporters.

This could be bad news for Orpik as well, if Maatta is to miss significant time he could be facing a major suspension in the playoffs.
