The Pittsburgh Penguins will almost certainly be making a trade.

It's relatively rare to hear National Hockey League general managers openly talk about the possibility of a trade, but that's exactly what general manager Jim Rutherford did on Thursday.

Rutherford indicated that not only was he in a position to acquire a number of players but that he was waiting to see if the situation would evolve, presumably in an effort to make an even bigger move than the ones currently available.

"There's a couple of guys I could acquire right now," Rutherford said as per NHL.com . "I feel like there's another group of guys that could possibly be available here soon. Kind of just waiting to see if that happens. Something could happen in the very near future or this could drag on for a little while."

While Rutherford did not offer any hints about who he might be trying to acquire, or even what position he is looking to fill, there have been strong rumors suggesting that the Penguins are looking for a center after losing both Matt Cullen and Nick Bonino to free agency this summer.

Keep your eyes open and your ear to the ground because the Penguins are almost certainly going to pull off a deal.
