The Pittsburgh Penguins have made a trade just hours before their game against the Flames in Calgary on Tuesday.

The team confirmed that it acquired forward Kevin Roy from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Ryan Haggerty.

Roy is signed through the end of the 2019-20 season. His contract has a value of $850,000. He is expected to report to the Baby Penguins at the moment.

The Penguins lose Haggerty, a 26-year-old forward who has recorded six points (3-3-6) over 23 games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL) this season. During the 2018-19 season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, he pulled a career high 44 points (23-21-44) and led Wilkes-Barre/Scranton with 23 goals over 68 regular season AHL games.

Undrafted, he has took part in 308 career AHL regular season games recording 156 points (77-79-156).

As for Roy, he was drafted in the fourth round (97th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft by the Anaheim Ducks. He has played 23 games for the Springfield Thunderbirds of the AHL this year, recording four goals, 10 assists and 14 points. His 14 points rank fourth on the Thunderbirds this season.

He has managed to put up 28 NHL games on his resume from 2017-19, all with the Anaheim Ducks. In 25 games during the 2017-18 season, he recorded six goals, one assist and seven points.
