Penguins offer an update on Crosby

The Pittsburgh Penguins were back on the ice on Friday morning, getting ready in Nashville to take on the Predators later tonight.

There was a happy surprise for the team when forward Patric Hornqvist joined his teammates for practice.

This, however, got fans and pundits wondering what was happening with captain Sidney Crosby, who underwent core surgery last month and has has not played since Nov. 9.

The Penguins finally gave an update on the star player. It has been revealed that Crosby, and teammate Nick Bjugstad – each sidelined due to core muscle injuries – skated with skills coach Ty Hennes in Pittsburgh.

Head coach Mike Sullivan had very little more to say about the captain’s recovery and timeline for a return.

“Sid’s making progress.” Sullivan declined to get into detail or offer any timeline.

Sullivan didn’t say much more on the status of Bjugstad. “That’s obviously a progression,” Sullivan added.

Brian Dumoulin and Justin Schultz, both out with lower-body injuries, have not resumed skating yet.

It remains good to get positive update on Crosby as fans grow more and more impatient for his return to action.
