Last week, the Pittsburgh Penguins moved defenseman Erik Gudbranson to the Anaheim Ducks in return for Andreas Martinsen and a 2021 seventh-round draft pick.

This might have been just the beginning for Pens general manager Jim Rutherford.

According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Penguins are getting for more moves and it seems like a lot is getting down in the front office in Pittsburgh. This is what he had to say in his latest 31 Thoughts column on Sportsnet

Pittsburgh is absolutely going to add. It’s just a matter of when GM Jim Rutherford decides to. It is also believed an extension with Marcus Pettersson is all but done. He can’t sign until Jan. 1, at the earliest.”

Insiders and pundits were quick to notice that a lot of scouts were in attendance on Tuesday night in Pittsburgh when the Penguins faced the Philadelphia Flyers and demolished them 7-1.

Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey Now noted who was in a suite to watch the action:

It remains to be seen if one of these teams will become a trade partner with the Penguins.

We will keep an eye on this…
