The playoffs in any sport require you to sacrifice for your team, but perhaps no championship is more difficult and more grueling than the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

On Monday we were given yet another example of just how tough hockey players can and must be to win it all, when it was revealed that veteran center Matt Cullen has been playing through a broken toe in the Final.

According to multiple reports Cullen in fact suffered the injury all the way back in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning and has played through it since. While a broken toe certainly isn't life threatening, playing in the National Hockey League at 39 years old against the best of the best in a Stanley Cup Final is already a monumental task.

For his efforts Cullen was rewarded with the second Stanley Cup Championship of his NHL career.
