The Pittsburgh Penguins are very much looking to make a trade deal.

The defending Stanley Cup Champions have been rumored to be on the market for a goaltender for some time now, and on Tuesday those rumors were confirmed during a segment of Insider Tradingby TSN insider Darren Dreger.

While Dreger cited that Jim Rutherford is a patient general manager he believes that the current goaltending situation in Pittsburgh has the Penguins looking for some insurance between the goal posts.

"They do have a bit of a situation developing in goal," said Dreger before adding "I wouldn't be surprised if the Penguins add a veteran goaltender that could slot into the American Hockey League in that insurance capacity. "

While this is completely unconnected, the Penguins are one of the teams that have been confirmed to have a scout present in Montreal tonight, and you have to wonder if they might be watching red hot backup goalie Charlie Lindgren

If that is indeed the case the Canadiens would likely be looking for a large return in a trade given how well Lindgren has performed so far this season. While it has been a very limited sample size, in 4 games Lindgren has a 1.24 goals against average and a .964 save percentage.
