The Pittsburgh Penguins took a huge gamble this summer when they went ahead and traded veteran forward Phil Kessel to the Arizona Coyotes in return for Alex Galchenyuk.

While many fans expected the Pens to be losers in this transaction, they probably never expected Galchenyuk to miss most of the start of the season with an injury and to record just three assists in six games.

Now, it feels like the Penguins might lose even more seeing that team insider Josh Yohe of the Athletic revealed on the air of TVA Sports on Wednesday that general manager Jim Rutherford may consider placing Galchenyuk back on the trade block.

Furthermore, Yohe explained that he doubts Rutherford will want to re-sign him to an extension if he has a poor season and won’t be able to afford him if he wakes up and gets tremendous results.

No matter what, it seems like the Galchenyuk in Pittsburgh moment will be short lived…
