The focus was on Phil Kessel being traded this summer in Pittsburgh, and after one nixed trade to the Minnesota Wild, Penguins general manger Jim Rutherford managed to get a deal done with the Arizona Coyotes.

We find out this week that the summer was a rough one for the Penguins GM who attempted another move he couldn’t get done.

Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune Live recently reported the Penguins are believed to have shopped goaltender Tristan Jarry this summer but couldn’t find a satisfactory return.

Rorabaugh is speculating that Rutherford could consider trading Jarry later on again this season rather than risk losing him for nothing through waivers.

Rutherford might end up getting more luck on the trade market during the 2019-20 campaign. We never know what can happen in the crease and some teams might be forced to get better depth in between the pipes to to injuries or poor performances. Who knows?

The Pens GM might try this one again, like he did with Kessel…
