Pens' Kessel roasts media after snapping scoring slump!

Phil Kessel put an end to a career-long 16-game drought with a first-period goal, leading the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 3-0 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets in a pivotal Eastern Conference matchup on Thursday.

Finally, the monkey is off his back.

After the game, the buzz was on as media members awaited to speak with Kessel following the Pens' win. However, Kessel wasn’t totally thrilled with the media horde that surrounded his stall when he got out, which led to the star forward roasting the reporters with a brilliant line:

“Jesus Christ. I got one goal.”

He kept making fun of the media's questions as we all know Kessel can be quite the joker.

"OK, what's up?" Asked about his goal. "It felt pretty good, right? It wasn't the greatest goal but I'll take it at this point."

Kessel still answered all the questions about his power-play goal, his first tally since Jan. 30th. To add to the stress, the Pens veteran forward had to wait for video replay to ensure there wasn't any goaltender interference on the play.

“I thought, ‘If that one gets called back, I’m running pretty bad,’ ” Kessel said. “But fortunately, it didn’t.”

The Penguins currently sit in third place in the Metropolitan Division, two points up on the Carolina Hurricanes and four points ahead of the Blue Jackets. They face Columbus again on Saturday.

"I thought it was going to come a little earlier than it did. It took me a while. Hopefully, now I can get a hot streak going or something.”

We hope so too, Phil.
