Pittsburgh Penguins star forward Evgeni Malkin and development coach Sergei Gonchar are both living legends in Russian hockey folklore. And with their visit to Moscow today with the Stanley Cup in tow, they’ve only further cemented themselves in the nation’s culture. You see, they introduced Stanley to a new friend today: the KHL’s Gagarin Cup.

Check it out:

This is in fact the first time the Stanley Cup and the Gagarin Cup have ever been side-by-side. Incredible. While Malkin is a three-time Stanley Cup champion and Gonchar a two-time Stanley Cup champion (once as a player, once as a coach), neither has ever hoisted the Gagarin Cup. Still, it’s a nice gesture by the two and a cool moment as we, as fans, get to see the hockey world’s two most prestigious trophies side-by-side.
