The Pittsburgh Penguins visited the Golden Knights in Vegas last night and goalie Matt Murray, who didn’t get the start, was looking to speak to his former teammate Marc-Andre Fleury before puck drop.

Fleury was facing his former team in between the pipes and while some former teammates were looking to play mind games and beat him in net, Murray wanted to give his condolences to Flower, who lost his father in November.

It was important for Murray, he wanted to show Fleury his support, he who lost his father Andre, who passed away at just 63 years.

Murray knows what the veteran goalie is going through: last season, the Penguins goalie lost his father unexpectedly. He wanted to give Fleury some well wishes and the Penguins got it on tape.

They might be rivals on the ice, but Murray and Fleury will be friends forever.

It wasn’t the first time Murray felt the need to offer condolences and support on the ice to an opponent.  At the end of November, the Penguins’ goaltender did the same thing with Jacob Markstrom of the Vancouver Canucks.

The three goalies are all supportive of each other: Markstrom will replace Fleury at the upcoming All Star Game in St. Louis after Flower decided to step away from the event last week.
