Things have to change in Pittsburgh and that’s just a fact.

However, the latest Penguins rumours have gotten fans nervous seeing that star forward Evegni Malkin, who struggled this past season, have been tough to swallow.

While the Russian forward acknowledged the chatter and the possibility of being asked to waive his no-trade clause, it is hard to believe that GM Jim Rutherford will seriously consider parting ways with an offensive machine like Geno.

However, the general manager did mention that significant changes will be made to his roster and NHL insider Elliotte Friedman believes that after all these years of chatter, it is forward Phil Kessel that will end up getting traded.

And in a sense, Friedman thinks it will come at the right time to get something changed in Malkin as a Kessel trade would rattle his cage.

While it is believed that the New York Rangers and Florida Panthers could be destinations for Malkin, Friedman remains unsure that the Penguins will dare to pull the tigger. However, he seems sure that Kessel will be on the move, while the Rutherford won’t want to move his best trade chip in Kris Letang just yet.

We don’t know if the chatter and the potential Kessel trade will be enough to rattle Malkin’s cage and get him to come with a better attitude next season, however we know Pens fans will be rattled by all the potential moves coming this summer in Pittsburgh…
