Perry, Smith drop the gloves early in surprising fashion.

It's not often that you see a fight early in the first. Even rarer is to see a fight in the first period between teams who have no history of rivalry at all. 

The Rangers are in Anaheim tonight and things started of pretty fast between the teams. Only 2 minutes into the game, Corey Perry and Brendan Smith went at it. 

The fight was almost a non-event, with both guys being very careful of the other. It's well known in the league that Perry can throw a heavy punch once in a while and Smith is no pushover either. 

The game will certainly be intense and physical past that point, stay tuned!
