The Edmonton Oilers are trying to move from the firing of general manager Peter Chiarelli, which took place in January, a few months before the team was officially out of playoff contention.

While the search for a new GM keeps going in Edmonton, it seems like Chiarelli has been looking for a new role as well, and might have found it before his former team managed to properly replace him.

According to Oilers insider Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal, Chiarelli has been linked to a potential job with a current Stanley Cup contender. The former Oilers general manager has reportedly been spotted in St. Louis a few times this spring watching the Blues.

He and Blues general manager Doug Armstrong have done Olympic team managing together and could unite forces after this season.

Many people, who were glad to see Chiarelli go and criticized his many questionable trades and signings, could be shocked to see him in a position of success so quickly after his miserable tenure in Edmonton.

We will have to keep an eye out on Chiarelli as the Oilers keep looking for the perfect fit in the front office.
