Things got heated between the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings, after a highly debated hit.

During the second period of Wednesday’s game between the Hawks' and Wings', Red Wings' defenseman Jonathan Ericsson laid a hard shoulder-to-shoulder check on Blackhawks' forward Andrew Desjardins, which sent him falling head-first into the boards awkwardly.

Desjardins quickly got up to challenge Ericsson to a fight, but the linemen didn't give the two a chance to work out their issues between themselves, and shut down their fight.

Desjardins went to the locker room briefly after the hit, and was given four minutes for roughing, while Ericsson received two minutes for roughing.

There was no penalty call on the initial hit.
