Player gets suspended 2 games for one of the most vicious hit so far this season.

Marcus Johansson from the Washington Capitals has been suspended 2 game for his hit on New York Islanders' Thomas Hickey.

Johansson's suspension will cost him around $40, 00 in salary.

On the play, the Washington's forward was penalized for an illegal check to the head, spending 2 minutes in the box. Hickey left the game briefly, but he was not injured on the play.

Johansson via the Washington Post:

“I just tried to hit him,” Johansson said. “I went in with my shoulder, and you know, I don’t know if he had his head low or not, but I went in with my shoulder. That’s all I saw from my vantage point.”

Hickey to Newsday:

“I think that’s half me trying to protect myself better and half him coming in a little high,” Hickey said. “I haven’t seen the replay but I know he’s not a dirty player at all.”

Marcu Johansson is not known has a dirty player, collecting only 42 penalty minutes in 384 career games in the NHL.
