When you play in the NHL, you figure you are going to play on some of the best ice in the world, unfortunately for one team, that is not the case.

Cal Clutterbuck of the New York Islanders says his home rink is unplayable. “From about the 5-6 minute mark of the second, you knew it was one of those nights,” Clutterbuck told Newsday “You basically couldn’t string three passes together, the ice was unplayable. But we found a way.”

The Barclays Center has had some complaints from many people saying the seating is bad with all kinds of things blocking their view. Last season Kyle Okposo said the ice was "awful". Pretty sad to hear that an NHL arena has ice quality worse than some local rinks.

Details from Chris Botta who is a communications exec with the Islanders are that the piping system isn't up to NHL standards and the only way to fix this would be to rip out the floor and install new piping. Not good. However, if the Barclays Center wants to keep the Islanders, they might want to get it done ASAP. Bad enough it should have been done during the off season.
