Players finally reveal what's so different about Edmonton, why they preferred Toronto

We can understand why they preferred Toronto.

As the NHL has moved operations entirely to Edmonton to complete the rest of the postseason as the Conference finals and Stanley Cup final will take place in the Western bubble, some reports have surfaced that players coming from the East were in “shock” at the lack of amenities compared to those in Toronto.

Fans in Edmonton were quick to get mad at the players and pundits for badmouthing their city, however, Pierre McGuire, who has been working from the Western bubble since the start explained on the air of TSN 690 why players complain about the move from Toronto.

According to McGuire, the COVID-19 testings are done differently in Edmonton and need some getting used to.

“[…] in Toronto they weren’t getting throat COVID tests which you get in Edmonton every other day, says it probably got their attention because it takes getting used to.”

McGuire hasn’t heard players complain about the Edmonton bubble or its lack of amenities. After all, the players are in action every other night and need to be in top shape, physically and mentally, to make it to the Stanley Cup finals.

And we’re not talking about the Washington Capitals here (joke is that the Capitals did not take their bubble experience seriously during the 2020 playoffs and turned it into a vacation and held pool parties.)

While the COVID-19 tests might be unpleasant to undergo every other night or so for the players and staff, the league released another possible update on Monday. For the sixth straight week, there have been zero positive tests. With these results being added to the cumulative total, there have now been over 30,000 tests administered without a positive result.

And there might be more coming if families are allowed in Edmonton some time soon. Maybe they will complain too?
