Playoff team has lost their 'best player' for the season, and at least part of the playoffs.

Injuries are a part of the game, but when they hit you just before the post-season it's a particularly tough pill to swallow.

According to a report from Harvey Fialkov of the Florida Sun Sentinel, Florida Panthers forward Vincent Trocheck was spotted on crutches today, has been put in a cast, and will miss a minimum of three weeks of actions as a result of a lower-body injury.

Trocheck was injured in Florida's Tuesday night match up against the Toronto Maple Leafs when he put his body on the line and blocked a shot, one that will end up costing him in the long-term. Obviously given the timeline for recovery it will cost him the rest of the regular season, as well as at least part of the playoffs.

It's a huge loss for the Panthers up the middle, especially when one considers how well Trocheck has played as of late. NHL legend Jaromir Jagr stated on The Post Game that the team had lost their best player.

"He was our best player for a long time," said Jagr. "It’s tough. Not only we lost this game, we lost our best player."

"Hopefully somebody else is going to step up, but he was playing so well."

It will be interesting to see if this impacts the Panthers' first round playoff match up, one they will likely need to win before getting Trocheck back.,
