The New Jersey Devils have the Nashville Predators have just concluded a very minor trade, one that is not likely to have an impact on each organization's respective season.

According to an official announcement, the Nashville Predators have sent forward Adam Helewka to the New Jersey Devils organization. As I stated this is a very minor deal and it does not sound like the Nashville Predators will be getting much back in this deal. According to the announcement Helewka has been moved for "future considerations" and when you consider that he has no NHL experience, it seems likely that the best the Predators could hope for back is another minor league player at some point down the road.

Helewka was drafted into the NHL, he was selected in the 4th round (106th overall) at the 2015 National Hockey League Entry Draft but has never been able to crack an NHL roster. Instead Helewka has spent his entire career since leaving the Western Hockey League in the American Hockey League, with the exception of a 2 game stint in the ECHL. Most recently he appeared in 24 games for the Milwaukee Admirals where he had a pretty good showing, recording 8 goals and 11 assists for a total of 19 points over 24 games. Prior to that he played for the Tucson Roadrunners , also of the American Hockey League, picking up 13 goals and 18 assists for 31 points in 41 games with that organization. When you combine his season totals it gives him 21 goals and 29 assists for 50 points over a 65 game regular season, not bad at all.

That being said he will likely be used in New Jersey's minor league system almost exclusively, although it will be interesting to see if he manages to get himself any NHL time as a depth option. Helewka is only 23 years old so he still has time and a chance to prove himself worthy of playing at the NHL level, even though that seems like a long shot at this point.
