According to a report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, 25 year-old forward Austin Watson and the Nashville Predators are continuing to negotiate a new deal, but the players' demands may be hindering progress. Friedman reports that Watson is looking for a deal worth $1.4 million annually, while the Predators have countered with a much lower offer.

Watson was part of a boat load of young Predators who stepped it up in the playoffs this past season. Watson, Colton Sissons, Pontus Aberg and Frederick Gaudreau were all players who seemed to earn their keep for GM David Poile and the Preds in their Stanley Cup run in 2016-17. Watson had 9 points in 22 playoff games and, at only 25 years-old, has potential to be an impact top-six forward for the defending Western Conference champs in 2017-18.
