The Ottawa Senators and Nashville Predators have just made a trade.

According to a report from the Senators official website, the Senators have acquired veteran forward Austin Watson from the Nashville Predators in exchange for a fourth round pick at the 2021 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

Watson, the only player on the move in this deal, has just entered the first year of a new 3-year extension he signed with the Predators back in October of 2019 that will see him earning an average annual value of $1.5 million over the length of that deal. The deal comes with no form of trade or movement protection.

Watson had thus far played all 306 games of his NHL career as a forward for the Nashville Predators and his time in Nashville ends with 36 goals and 41 assists for a total of 77 points to his name.

The Senators released the following statement:

"Austin Watson is a big, strong winger who will bring a significant presence to our forward group," said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. "He was among Nashville's forward leaders in blocked shots last season, was the team's leader in hits and is someone who is especially physical on the forecheck. We also expect him to be a valuable asset on our penalty kill."
