Nashville Predators goaltender Marek Mazanec has announced that he’s signed a one-year deal with KHL team Slovan Bratislava for the 2017-18 season. The 26-year-old goaltender recently signed a two-way deal with the Preds with a cap hit of $650,000, leading many to wonder just what his plans are for the upcoming season.

Certainly Mazanec can’t be in two places at once, so he’ll presumably be leaving North America to join his new club in the KHL for 2017-18. The once promising prospect likely saw his path to the NHL blocked by the emergence of Preds backup Juuse Saros and, as a result, has decided to take his game back to Europe.

In 31 NHL games for the Preds, Mazanec posted an 8-13-4 record with a less than stellar .895 Sv%.
