On the ice there’s no questioning the leadership core of the Nashville Predators. Captain Mike Fisher and assistant captain Roman Josi are two of the best leaders in hockey, but it’s their off-ice leadership that’s generating headlines in Nashville today.

Despite losing a pivotal game 5 in Pittsburgh earlier this week and game-planning a strategy to keep their Stanley Cup hopes alive, Fisher and Josi took time out of their day yesterday to visit with two-year old Preds fan Trip Phinney. Trip, who is battling cancer, has fallen in love with the team this postseason and considers the players his friends. The family was gifted tickets earlier this season by goaltender Pekka Rinne, but the real-life visit from Fisher and Josi, Trip’s friends, was “overwhelming” according to Trip’s mother Theresa.

"When they showed up it was just a light in this whole big, dark time. You could tell he was a little bit different,” said Theresa. “He was a little bit happier, a little bit more himself. And it was just amazing to see him being a normal toddler when he has all this going on."
